What was the first real signal that your solution worked outside the lab or pitch deck, and what did that moment change for you?
The real signal came from our efficacy data. We were treating animals with very advanced leukemia and saw tumors shrink day after day, using an early development candidate at clinically relevant doses.
That was the moment we knew the technology truly worked. It changed the conversation completely. We stopped selling an idea and started showing data.
Can you briefly describe your project and where it stood when you entered Venture Kick?
One Therapeutics is developing a platform that engineers therapeutic cells directly inside the patient’s body, eliminating the complex and costly manufacturing process required for today’s personalized cell therapies.
When we entered Venture Kick, we had spent three years building the platform, secured more than CHF 3 million in non-dilutive funding, and generated early data that compared favorably with much larger programs. We were at the point where strong science was ready to become a company.
How has the direction of your product strategy changed since working with the Venture Kick Team?
Venture Kick made the project feel real in a new way.
As the company began taking shape, our focus expanded beyond the science. We started thinking more strategically about timelines, financing, competition, and how to position ourselves for long-term success. That broader perspective has been the biggest shift.
How will the Stage 2 funding help you advance your project concretely?
While the funding itself is valuable, the biggest benefit for us is the access that comes with it. Venture Kick connects us with investors, advisors, partners, and a network that would otherwise take years to build.
As we prepare for our seed round, those relationships are just as important as the funding. They help us accelerate the transition from a promising technology to a venture-backed company.
